Executive Director Tanimoto 'discovered' the little-known Cerro Amay Cloud Forest Ecosystem during his doctoral research on cloud forest birds in 2006. He founded the Cloud Forest Conservation Initiative in 2009, and since then, he has guided our projects and expanded our conservation approach.
Dr. Hatten is a professional entomologist and ecological statistician with extensive experience in the tropics. He was instrumental in surveying the insects of Cerro El Amay and collaborating with Universidad del Valle de Guatemala's Biodiversity Research Laboratory.
Elias is our Guatemalan-based conservationist. He works for the Guatemalan Protected Areas Council and works tirelessly to implement conservation projects with community leaders and land owners. Elias is currently finishing up his Licenciatura degree in Environmental Studies.
